"The boundaries which divide Life from Death are, at best, shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?"

- Edgar Allan Poe

With a profoundly haunted and historical presence, Dahlonega, nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, has become a town known for its captivating stories of the inexplicable. Its past with gold-mining, the Trail of Tears, and the Civil War, combined with its geology, has given rise to accounts of the unknown and the sense of a paranormal and ever present history. The tales that have emerged from Dahlonega’s tumultuous past, corroborated by the town’s residents, include sightings of Civil War soldiers playing cards in Mount Hope Cemetery; the apparition of a little girl in a floor length white dress playing in the rooms of Dahlonega’s Historic District; apparitions rattling dishes and pans in restaurants on the Public Square; chairs and chess pieces being moved when no one was there; and many more.
